Nancy Denney Essex, Design Director, is a visual communication strategist who believes that most business communication tools read like stereo instructions, resulting in lost opportunities to connect. A passionate advocate for the reader, Nancy's work with dozens of entrepreneurs and corporate and nonprofit executives focuses on making the exchange of information between a company and its audiences clear, direct, honest and beautiful. The combination of Nancy’s unique ability to synthesize complex issues and depict them as interesting, audience-targeted visual messages has contributed to effective communication strategies and tools for clients such as Civitas Initiative, Children’s Memorial Hospital and Indiana University.
Throughout her career, Nancy has guided clients to maximize the dollars spent on communication materials through her basic principle: the power of an effective message is directly tied to its clarity. As co-founder of Essex Two, she also collaborates with her partner, Joseph Michael Essex, on corporate identity and Cultural Branding™ initiatives for clients, manages project design teams, and leads the day-to-day operations of the business.
Nancy, a summa cum laude graduate from Illinois State University with a degree in Visual Communication, is currently Secretary of the board of directors for Evan’s Life Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to reaching out to at-risk children.
